The Coconut Nut

Malaysians use coconut in a variety of ways from nonfood to food products. When cooking, adding a healthy amount of coconut can benefit as coconut is a useful source of iron and fiber. Coconut water, the sweet colourless fluid in the heart of the nut is fat-free and greatly aids in regulating body temperature. Coconut oil is obtained from the dried coconut kernel, known as copra. Coconut oil contains no cholesterol and can encourage fat burning, boost the immune system, and also increase heart health when taken in the right amounts. Coconut milk that is extracted from the coconut kernel is rich in saturated fats which can cause high cholesterol levels in blood. Hence, people with a high risk of cardiovascular disease should avoid coconut milk.
