As Malaysians we love to eat. Unfortunately, many of the food we consume daily can be very unhealthy. In general, there are certain types of foods that should be avoided if you want to lose weight and stay healthy. This might come as a surprise, but they are the foods that we take almost every day.
4. Fruit juice
It may come to a surprise to some, but certain fruit juices found in shops are very unhealthy. Especially the ones found in cans and bottles. While fruit juice does contain antioxidants and vitamin C, there is also a high amount of added liquid sugar. Some juices can contain as much sugar as soft drinks!
5. Fried foods
Everyone loves French fries, fried chicken and deep-fried snacks. All this share one thing in common, as they are fried. Though nice to eat, fried food contains many types of unhealthy chemical compounds that are formed under high heat such as acrylamides, acrolein, heterocyclic amines, oxysterols, and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons. These chemicals increase the chances of cancer and heart diseases.
6. Fast Food
Most kids just love fast food restaurants. The food sold there may be tasty, but are mass-produced, and have since, lost lots of nutrient value. Despite their affordable prices, they lead to obesity and harm your health.
7. Processed coffee
Coffee is full of antioxidants and offers many benefits, even lowering the risk of diseases such as type 2 diabetes and Parkinson. Yet one should avoid instant coffee, as the additives, and sugars that are frequently added into the mix is very unhealthy. These ingredients make processed coffee more harmful than good.
In conclusion, the bottom line is that if we want to live a healthy lifestyle we should try to avoid or at least consume less of these foods. Instead we should aim for the healthier alternatives.
