Chestnuts, the Nutrient-packed Carbohydrates!

Chestnuts or water chestnuts are one of the most underestimated nuts by most people. Chestnuts are almost completely made of carbohydrates with a low fat and calorie content that are high in natural sugar. They are rich in nutrients such as folate, vitamin C, thiamine (vitamin B₁), riboflavin (vitamin B₂), pyridoxine (B₆), iron and phosphorous. Chestnuts can be consumed in various ways. Usually, they are boiled or roasted before consuming. Boiled chestnuts have a similar consistency to potatoes and can be mashed and used in baking or pastry filling. It can also be added to soups and salads. Chestnuts are definitely a nutrient-filled snack that is suitable for people of all ages.
